Would you be surprised to know that Alma College has e-mail addresses for just 44 percent of our alumni and mailing addresses for 85 percent of our alumni? Would you agree that we could do a lot better? We want the Alma College network – and your connection with it – to be as strong, rewarding, and productive as possible, but we need your help. With your participation, we aim to confirm valid contact information for 100 percent of our alumni base!
Alma College has partnered with Publishing Concepts, Inc. (PCI) to meet this goal and to produce a first-rate alumni directory. We ask you (and all alumni) to confirm your contact information and to supply additional updates so that we can better connect with each other and accomplish even more together. Sharing your academic and professional accomplishments will enable you to:
- Connect with other alumni in your field and receive relevant notifications about career-related networking events, panel discussions, and mentorship opportunities;
- Learn about Alma College athletics competitions, performing arts events, and other gatherings near you;
- Receive invitations to enrich campus life, bolster student recruitment, champion Alma College programs, and engage in other ways through the award-winning Alma Ambassador Program;
- Enhance the value of your degree by enabling Alma College to showcase the strength of its alumni base; and
- Purchase a print or electronic directory after you verify your data (completely optional).
In the next couple of months, PCI will contact you via mail, phone and e-mail to request that you update your contact and professional information. As a trusted partner of Alma College, PCI is contractually obligated to safeguard and keep confidential all information that you provide, and you control what goes into the directory. The below Frequently Asked Questions shares more about PCI’s sterling reputation and partnership with Alma College.
We would be deeply grateful for your participation. Thank you for considering and for your loyalty to Alma College.
Frequently Asked Questions about the Alumni Directory Project
I received an email/postcard/phone call from a company asking for my personal information. They said they were working on a directory for Alma College. Is this a legitimate project, or is it a scam?
This is a legitimate and important project for Alma College. As we did in 2012, Alma has partnered with PCI (also known as Publishing Concepts) to produce our new alumni directory. PCI is a company located in Dallas, TX that publishes directories for educational institutions, fraternities, sororities and military organizations across the nation. PCI traces their roots back over 85 years to the Rockwell F. Clancy Company, the nation’s first publisher of alumni directories. PCI partners with 17 of the top 25 universities as rated by US News and World Report including Princeton, Harvard, and Georgetown.
We’ve assembled the information currently listed in our alumni files and now need your assistance to confirm the accuracy of your data. Verifying your information allows us to invite you to local events, share news and information from the college, and help you reconnect with your classmates and friends.
How do I know my information will only be used for directory purposes?
PCI is contractually obligated to keep all personal information received confidential. Your data will not be shared with any third parties except the providers necessary to produce the alumni directory (e.g. the printer), with which PCI has negotiated confidentiality agreements.
I would like to verify and update my information. How may I do this?
If you receive a postcard or an email with a telephone number, you may call the number to speak with a dedicated representative for the Alma College project. The representative will verify all the information we have on file for you and make updates where needed. If you receive an email with an embedded link, you may go to a web page to review your information. If you have questions, please call the Alma College Advancement Office at (800) 291-1312 or PCI’s customer service desk at (800) 982-1590.
Can I choose some or all of my information not to be printed in the directory?
When you call to update your information, you can tell the representative which information you would prefer to have excluded. You may also communicate this information to the PCI customer service desk at (800) 982-1590 or to the Alma College Advancement Office at (800) 291-1312.
Can anyone purchase a directory?
Only Alma College alumni may purchase the Alma College Alumni Directory. While many people find the directory helpful in making personal and professional connections with other alumni, you are under no obligation to purchase a directory from PCI.
When will I receive my directory?
The total duration of the directory project is about 12 months. Since we began the project in August 2017, the directories will be distributed around August 2018.
Please call the Alma College Advancement Office at (800) 291-1312 with any questions or concerns.
