Thomas joined Alma’s athletic department in August 2015 after previously serving more than nine years in athletic communication positions at the University of Michigan, Michigan Technological University and Northern Michigan University.

Last summer, Thomas directed the work that led to the launch of the enhanced website and the Alma Scots Front Row app that provides one-click links to video feeds, stats, photos and recaps.

Thomas also was recognized for his “This Week in Scots Athletics,” a weekly roundup of news and results distributed broadly both on and off-campus, and his efforts to bring enhanced statewide media coverage of Scots athletics.

“In many ways, Paul has taken sports information to a new level, beyond what many Division III sports information directors do,” wrote Abernathy in his monthly update to the campus. “I greatly appreciate Paul’s innovations and contributions to the success and recognition of our Athletics program.”

President Abernathy periodically presents the Great Scot Award to members of the faculty and staff for “excellence in service to Alma College.”
