Celebrating Community: Jeff, Ginna Holmes Receive Service Award

“Jeff and Ginna Holmes have been model citizens for many years and have actively served the greater Alma community in the areas of education, health, service and volunteerism,” says Jeff Abernathy, president of Alma College. “We acknowledge their successes and are deeply grateful for their community support and involvement.”

Prior to her current position as the executive director of the Michigan Community Service Commission, Ginna Holmes directed Academic and Career Planning at Alma College, helping students to identify and plan for their educational and professional goals. Prior to Alma, she held positions working with youth in the mentoring and service-learning fields.

She also has been active with the Gratiot County Community Foundation Youth Advisory Council, the Michigan Women’s Resource Center and the Alma and St. Louis Rotary Club.

Dr. Jeff Holmes has practiced medicine for 28 years as a family physician in Alma and has served as chief of staff at MidMichigan Medical Center-Gratiot. Additionally, he served on the Alma Public Schools Board of Education for 10 years.

The Holmes were recognized during Alma College’s Community Day activities prior to the Scots’ football game Oct. 22 at Bahlke Field.
