In recognition of Alma College’s enrollment success this fall, President Jeff Abernathy has recognized the Admissions and Financial Aid offices with the Great Scot Award.

“The individuals in the Enrollment sector deserve recognition for not only meeting but surpassing recruitment goals that seemed significantly challenging a year ago,” wrote President Abernathy in his September update to the campus.

The combined Admissions and Financial Aid staffs were recognized for their year-long efforts that included “not only sharing the values of an Alma College education to prospective students but responding with patience and sensitivity to families who had hard questions and concerns about financing their student’s education,” he wrote. “We are truly appreciative of their expertise, dedication and hard work.”

Alma College enrolled the largest entering class in its 130-year history this fall. Alma’s total headcount of 1,450 students in the second highest in college history. Read more about our record-breaking class.

“We know that achieving enrollment goals requires the hard work of the entire campus,” wrote the president. “I am grateful to all who assisted the Admissions staff in student recruitment, whether it was participating in admissions events on campus, contacting students directly or simply offering a smile and welcome when encountering campus visitors.”

President Abernathy periodically presents the Great Scot Award to members of the faculty and staff for “excellence in service to Alma College.”
