The Alma College Advancement Office achieved a record fund-raising total in fiscal 2015-16, including surpassing an ambitious Annual Fund goal.
President Jeff Abernathy has recognized the Advancement Office with the Great Scot Award for July 2016.
The recognition was bestowed on the office for raising more than $15.5 million in 2015-16 — the largest fund-raising year in Alma College history.
“These generous gifts from alumni, parents, faculty, staff and friends of the college send an important message — they believe in what we do here,” said Abernathy in his communication to the campus.
In addition to the record total for gifts and pledges, the college also set a record for the Annual Fund, surpassing an ambitious goal of $1,365,000.
“Structural changes to this year’s annual fund enabled donors to direct their gifts toward areas they care deeply about,” said Abernathy. “Donors provided Alma College with budget relief (Alma Fund), supplied students with scholarships (Scot Scholarship Fund), and enriched a wide range of academic and athletic programs.
“Congratulations to Matt vandenBerg, vice president for advancement, and all our colleagues in the Advancement Office on their incredible work this past year.”
President Abernathy periodically presents the Great Scot Award to members of the faculty and staff for “excellence in service to Alma College.”
