MFA Summer Reading: Sophfronia Scott

The Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Creative Writing at Alma College will offer a public reading by its program director, Sophfronia Scott, at its 2022 summer residency.

The Alma MFA in Creative Writing Summer Reading Series invites you to join us at Ballyhoo Books for a public reading featuring the MFA’s program director, the author Sophfronia Scott. The series celebrates Alma College’s first graduate program.

Scott is a novelist, essayist, and leading contemplative thinker whose work has appeared in numerous publications and received a 2020 Artist Fellowship Grant from the Connecticut Office of the Arts. Her book The Seeker and the Monk: Everyday Conversations with Thomas Merton received the 2021 Thomas Merton “Louie” Award from the International Thomas Merton Society. Sophfronia holds degrees from Harvard University and Vermont College of Fine Arts. She lives in Sandy Hook, Connecticut and is the founding director of Alma College’s Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Creative Writing, a low residency graduate program based in Alma, Michigan. Sophfronia’s next novel, Wild, Beautiful, and Free, will be published in February.
