MLK Poetry Night

Join us as we reflect on legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King by performing your original poetry or someone else’s work at our spoken word poetry night.

Join us as we reflect on the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King by performing your original poetry or someone else’s work at our spoken word poetry night. Your poems can reflect on the themes revolving around activism, resistance, oppression, liberation, revolution, and justice or what MLK means to you. All levels of skill and experience are welcome. Memorization of the poem is not required. 

This event will be hosted by Alma College’s English department and the Office of Diversity and Inclusion. Our performers and audience will be spread out between Highland Blush, Ballyhoo Books, a location on Alma College Campus, and also virtually. 

*This event is planned to be a hybrid of in-person and virtual attendance; however, live performers and audience will depend on COVID restrictions
