Alma College Theatre invites community members to join our students for our first major musical in almost 20 years. In the fall of 2019, we will produce the Meredith Willson’s classic, The Music Man. This large cast show requires at 23 named characters and a large chorus of all ages. Priority in casting leading roles will go to Alma College students, but we expect to need several community members to fill out the company. If you ever dreamed of performing in our beautiful Presbyterian Hall, here is your opportunity.
Along with River City citizens of all ages, we will particularly need two younger actors to play Winthrop and Amaryllis.
Winthrop – a seemingly sullen nine-year old boy with a lisp who blossoms when he joins Professor Hill’s band
Amaryllis - a small-fry freckle-faced eight-year old girl
Auditions will be as follows
Acting/Singing: Please prepare 16 bars of a song from the era of classic musical theater (1943-1965) Please do not use anything from The Music Man. Once all auditioners have sung, we will hold acting auditions by reading scenes from the play
Dance auditions, come prepared to move and learn a simple combination
First Read will be Monday September 9th at 7:00 p.m. in Strosacker theatre
Performance Dates are October 17-20
