Location: Anderson Reading Room (in the Library)

Alma alumna Jill Reglin discusses her career as a teacher and writing center coordinator and writing as a career skill.
Jill Reglin has taught composition and served as Writing Center Coordinator at Lansing Community College since 1997. She has previously worked in writing centers at Michigan State University and Mott Community College. Jill is co-founder of the Michigan Writing Centers Association and has held various leadership positions within the East Central Writing Centers Association and the International Writing Centers Association. Jill earned her Bachelor’s degree in English from Alma, where she first began working as a writing tutor, and her Master’s degree in English/Community College Teaching from Michigan State University. She also taught as an adjunct faculty member in Alma’s English department. Jill uses a “writing-centered” pedagogy not only to teach new Writing Assistants how to help student writers but to teach her own students how to meet the demands of college-level writing assignments.
Writers at Work is a speaker series that aims to show Alma college students the range of ways in which writing is an essential part of the work lives of Alma alumni in a variety of career fields.  Hosted by the Alma College Writing Center, this speaker series brings to campus engaging speakers who attest to the importance of writing in career fields ranging from business to science to medicine to social work to public service – and beyond.
Free and open to the public.
