Classroom use

Looking for PCs, a place to practice your presentation, or a meeting space?  If we’re not using them, you can!

Alma College faculty, staff and students have access to the Olofsson and Smith Rooms for classroom instruction and individual use whenever they are not reserved for library bibliographic instruction or for other groups. 

  • The Olofsson Room has 11 Intel computer stations connected to the College network. There also is an instructor’s PC in the front of the room that is connected to a projector for use with a screen. Furniture in the room usually consists of 20 rolling chairs and 8 - 10 modular, rolling tables. This room also contains a scanner.
  • The Olofsson Room is to be used for computer-related classes taught by Alma College librarians and teaching faculty. The classroom is available for use by students, faculty and staff of Alma College whenever it is not reserved for class instruction.
  • The M. J. J. Smith Room has an instructor’s PC in the front of the room that is connected to a projector for use with a screen. Furniture in the room usually consists of 20 rolling chairs and 10 - 15 modular, rolling tables.
  • The M. J. J. Smith Room is to be used for computer-related classes taught by Alma College librarians and teaching faculty. The classroom is available for use by students, faculty and staff of Alma College whenever it is not reserved for class instruction.

    RESERVATIONS
    In order to ensure that these rooms are available when needed for library instruction:
  • Use of these rooms is at the discretion of the Library Director, with priority given to library instruction and curriculum-based instruction.
  • Library staff members handle scheduling the rooms.
  • The rooms must be reserved at least 24 hours in advance for any class instruction. Please call x7229 or stop in the Library to make a reservation.
  • If you would like to have a librarian provide a bibliographic instruction session for your class, please contact Matthew Collins at (989) 463-7342 or collinsms@alma.edu., at least one week in advance of the date needed.
  • Reservations will be printed and posted next to the door of the rooms each morning.
  • The Olofsson and Smith Rooms are not for use as classrooms for regularly scheduled courses for an entire term. To reserve the classroom for more than one class session, please contact the Matthew Collins at (989) 463-7342 or collinsms@alma.edu to request permission.
