America: History and Life
- America: History and Life is one of the most important databases for students of United States and Canadian history. This database is an index of literature concerning the history and culture of the U.S. and Canada from prehistory to the present. It primarily consists of indexing for 1,700 journals as far back as 1910, but also includes citations for books and media reviews. Indexed sources are predominantly written in English, but America: History and Life also contains English-language abstracts of content written in other languages.
American Chemical Society Publications
- The American Chemical Society (ACS) Publications include over 40 full-text, peer-reviewed journals published by the American Chemical Society, covering the chemical and related sciences. ATLA Religion Database with ATLASerials
- ATLA (American Theological Library Association) Religion Database with ATLASerials is an important resource to students of religion and theology. It indexes journal articles, book reviews, and collections of essays. Of the articles, reviews and essays it indexes, close to half of them (over 280,000) are available in full text.
Biography Reference Center

Biological Abstracts
- Biological Abstracts is an expansive index of journal literature in the life sciences. It covers a wide range of topics from botany to microbiology to pharmacology. In addition to keyword searching, this index is also searchable using BIOSIS indexing, MESH terms, and CAS registry numbers. Sources are primarily English-language, but a number of non-English sources are indexed and include English-language abstracts.

Masterplots
- Masterplots provides electronic access to the 12-volume 4th edition of this classic literature reference resource. It contains over 2,200 essays, which provide fundamental reference data (main characters, year of publication, etc.), plot synopses where applicable, and critical evaluations of a comprehensive selection of English-language and world literature that has been translated into English. Additionally, Masterplots provides a list of "Further Readings" recommendations for critical books and articles relevant to a more complete understanding of the work.

- MEDLINE is an excellent resource for students studying biology and medicine. It is large database providing indexing of over 19,000 journals covering all aspects of medicine, including dentistry, nursing, nutrition, psychiatry, and toxicology. Indexing is available from the 1950s to present, and content is updated daily.

- Free electronic access to the New York Times is now available to all members of the Alma College community through a newly established academic site license. This license grants full access to all New York Times articles from the paper�s inception in 1851 and up to the current day�s paper. All content is searchable and the results may be narrowed by date, type, author and newspaper section. To begin using this valuable resource, you will first need to set up a personal account. You will then be able to access your account on or off campus, via desktop computers and/or mobile devices.
