Emergency Guidelines

These campus emergency guidelines have been designed to provide contingency procedures for the Alma College community to follow in the event of campus emergencies.

While the guidelines do not cover every conceivable situation, they do supply the basic administrative steps necessary to cope with many anticipated campus emergencies. The procedures as outlined are intended to minimize potential risks to students, college employees, the public, and property, while affording prompt reaction to restore campus order and operations.

These guidelines will be reviewed at least annually by the campus safety committee. If you have suggestions for edits or additional content, please send those to the committee chair to take to the committee for their review.

Reporting an Emergency

In case of emergency, students, staff and faculty are to take appropriate, immediate action to protect lives and property. If appropriate, call 911, then make direct contact with Campus Safety or the administrator on duty. These officials will notify the college president or other executive staff members.

  • Administrator on Duty: (989) 560-5972
  • Ryan Stoudt, Emergency Response Administrator: (989) 463-7162 (office)

Campus Alert System

Alma College participates in an campus alert system called Blackboard Connect. As part of this service, the college has the ability to reach students, faculty and staff with immediate, time-sensitive information or announcements using campus phones, cell phones, email and text messaging.

Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to periodically update their personal campus alert contact information. After clicking on the “Update Your Campus Alert Contact Information“ link, review and update as necessary your email addresses; work, home and mobile phone numbers; as well as select the text messaging notification option. If your 10-digit ID number that is printed on your Alma College ID card does not automatically load onto the form, you will need to provide it.
