Required Items

Check your Alma College Portal

Your Inside Alma portal is the hub for all of your important links as an Alma College student. Through the portal, you can find access to the housing portal, My Self Service (financial portal), course information, and “Next Steps” for you to complete before arriving in the fall. There are also campus announcements at the top of the portal with helpful updates for students.

Can’t remember your username or email address? The information is listed at the top of your financial aid award letter or you can reach out to your admissions rep!

Complete the Housing Process

The housing process is broken into three steps:

  1. Complete Housing Agreement/Roommate Profile and Select Meal Plan
  2. Select a Roommate
  3. Select a Room

Detailed information about each of these steps (including screenshots and instructions) are sent to your Alma College email. There are also copies of these instructions in the housing portal itself.

Attend “Preparing for Course Registration”

The Provost’s Office hosts virtual sessions where you will learn how to navigate Student Planning, our course registration platform. This enables you to select courses for your fall schedule, see a timeline of courses based on your academic track, and more.

 Note: You will not be picking out your classes – this is your time to learn how to register for classes.

Register for Becoming a Scot Day

This day on campus is your opportunity to celebrate your commitment to Alma and connect with the community. You’ll learn about moving to campus, receive your student ID, pick up some Alma swag, and make lifelong connections!

Virtual resources for Becoming a Scot Day are available online. 

Complete the Student Profile Form

This is an important form that helps your advisor identify your career and academic interests and will be used to assist course selection.

You can find a link to the Student Profile Form in your “Next Steps” box of Inside Alma. 

Check your Alma College Email

Make sure to regularly check your Alma email at This is the primary place where you’ll receive information about academic advising, scheduling classes, housing, Tartan 101, and other incoming student updates.

Submit the Consent Form for Disclosure

In accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA of 1974, 20 USC & 1232g and 34 CFR & 99), Alma College must obtain written consent from a student before releasing or discussing student educational records such as: financial aid records or student accounts of that student with a parent, legal guardian or third party. This Student Consent to Disclosure form facilitates a request/authorization by the student.

Access this form now or find it in your “Next Steps” box in the Inside Alma portal. 

Submit Immunization Information

Alma College requires certain immunizations for incoming students. Submit your immunization information in the “Next Steps” box on the Inside Alma Portal.

Optional Items

Parent Proxy

You can give proxy access to financial account information to a parent or guardian of of choosing. Read the FAQ and set up Parent Proxy access. 

Complete the Summer Career Challenge

The Summer Career Challenge is an opportunity to explore your academic passions, connect with campus organizations and staff members, learn what campus resources are available to you, and much more. Even better – for each assignment you complete for the challenge, you can get fun prizes along the way!
