Admission Requirements
Below are the admission requirements for first-year students. Transfer students should contact the nursing department directly at chaplenra@alma.edu or (989) 463-7399.
- Entry Points
- For a first-year student to enter the nursing program, admission will be dependent upon:
- Application and admission to Alma College
- Completion of Nursing statement (a part of admissions application)

Completion of an interview with a member of the Nursing faculty
- The interview will be coordinated by the Admissions Office.
- Interviews will begin to take place February 2021
- For a first-year student to enter the nursing program, admission will be dependent upon:
* Important to note: Generally, students with a cumulative GPA of a 3.0 and above, will find that they are academically prepared to begin in the Nursing program. Students under a cumulative GPA of a 3.0, will be asked to have additional conversation regarding academic support plans when pursing the Nursing pathway at Alma College.

- The interview will be coordinated by the Admissions Office

- Student maintaining a 2.5 (BC) GPA overall
- Student must have taken and achieved a minimum grade of a C in Anatomy and Physiology I and 2 (IPH 231 and IPH 232), Pathophysiology (IPH 328), and Pharmacology (IPH 340)

- For a student wishing to enter the program after their freshman year, including transfer students, admission will be dependent upon:
- Satisfactory progression and completion of nursing program
- All nursing students must maintain a cumulative minimum GPA of 2.5 and a minimum GPA of 3.0 in nursing (NUR) courses.
- All nursing students must earn a minimum grade of C in the following IPH courses: 231, 232, 328, and 340.
- All nursing students must earn a minimum grade of BC in every nursing (NUR) course to progress in the program.
- Any nursing student earning a C or below in a nursing course (NUR) must repeat the course to remain in the program and progress. The student may continue to take courses in the same tier while waiting to repeat the course.
- A student may repeat only one nursing course (NUR), and may repeat a nursing course only one time. If a student fails to achieve a grade of BC or above in a second NUR course, or a grade of BC or above in a repeated nursing course, the student will not be allowed to remain in the Alma College nursing program.
