One of Alma’s newest majors offers a truly interdisciplinary approach to understanding the workings of the human brain and nervous system.
As a neuroscience major, you will have the opportunity to work in laboratory settings with faculty to explore the mechanisms underlying brain function and how it supports behavior, emotion and cognition.
The major combines scientific knowledge from multiple disciplines, with courses in biology, chemistry, psychology, physiology, philosophy and pharmacology.
A degree in neuroscience provides you with a pathway to graduate school for advanced study in many interesting and challenging careers, including those in the biological sciences, psychology, clinical psychology, medicine, veterinary medicine and physical therapy. Neuroscience graduates may work in nursing homes or with patients with traumatic brain injuries.
There are also employment opportunities available to you right after Alma, particularly in laboratory research and the pharmaceutical industry.
