Health Care Administration

Get To Know Us

Are you interested in the business aspects of health care?

Here are just a few of the resources available to health care administration students.

Healthcare Administration Professional Development Organization (HAPDO)

HAPDO is designed to help you explore different health care opportunities, meet other students interested in the field, and develop effective leadership skills to prepare you for a career in healthcare administration. This student-run organization creates opportunities for you to become acquainted with faculty and students who share your interest in the health professions. We bring health professionals to campus so that you can talk directly to someone working in a career you are considering or get advice about graduate schools. But we have fun too! Read about our recent conference trip in the latest issue of HealthCents.

Practical experiences

We encourage students to plan a health care administration internship in a local health care facility to gain on-the-job experience before leaving college. An internship will not only give you valuable professional training, it will also help you build your professional contacts and meet potential employers. You will also complete a senior project to research and identify solutions to real-world problems related to the business of health care. It’s all about preparing for your future.

Thinking about grad school?

Alma’s students have been accepted into prestigious business schools for MBAs, including the University of Michigan, Michigan State University, University of Notre Dame, Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and Northwestern University.

The Center for Student Opportunity provides excellent resources to help students find an internship, write a compelling resume, start a career search, or prepare graduate school applications. Check it out!
