Leadership Programs
At Alma, you won’t just learn — you’ll learn to lead: in the classroom, in the community and all over the world.
What makes a Scot stand apart from the rest? A willingness to speak out, step up and make an impact. Whether you’re inspiring your peers on the athletic field, managing your fraternity or sorority chapter or taking the stage at the National Model UN Conference — at Alma, there are many ways for you to grow as a leader.
You can also hone those skills in a real-world setting through internships, placements or volunteering. Our career and personal development team can help you access dedicated career coaching, on- and off-campus employment opportunities and Alma Venture funding to pursue your dream.
Model UN
As a member of Model UN, you’ll develop the diplomacy, collaboration and negotiation skills needed to resolve conflict and address pressing issues like climate change and human rights violations. Alma’s team of trailblazers is the largest and most diverse in the world. We’ve received top national honors for 25+ years and have been awarded more than 100 outstanding delegation awards.
Posey Global Leadership Fellows Program
Through the Posey Global Leadership Fellows Program (P-Global), you’ll receive funding to volunteer, participate in an internship or perform internationally-focused research anywhere in the world! You’ll design the experience yourself around a topic you are passionate about. To date, our students have received over $1.6 million and traveled to 49 different countries.
Community Engagement
Through the Center for College and Community Engagement (3CE), you’ll have the chance to learn and grow through community engagement opportunities locally, nationally and globally. Through placements with local partners, you can be a part of tackling the issues that contribute to inequality, like food insecurity and threats to our natural world.
In our alternative breaks, you can participate in direct, hands-on service all over the country, supporting causes such as disaster relief and animal welfare — and learning as you go!
Student Organizations
Find your voice — and your people — in one of our 80+ student organizations! Whether you are a budding politician or want to put your STEM skills to work solving real-world problems, our student-led groups offer something for everyone. Want to start something new? Take your leadership further by creating your own group!
