Athletic Training

Get To Know Us

The Alma College Athletic Training Program is dedicated to a quality education for those students who wish to pursue a career in Athletic Training. We are committed in providing essential educational and clinical experiences in a stimulating and supportive environment. We will prepare our students for entrance into an ever-evolving field by offering them opportunities to work in multiple experiences to qualify as a candidate for the Board of Certification examination.

The entry-level credential needed to practice Athletic Training is certification by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, called the Board of Certification (BOC) examination. Some states also require Athletic Trainers to be licensed. Michigan requires licensure, however, there is no extra examination, but yearly dues are required in order to maintain licensure as an athletic trainer to practice in the state of Michigan.

The students that complete the requirements for the Athletic Training major can earn a Bachelor of Arts degree. Additional science electives can be taken to earn a Bachelor of Science degree. The Athletic Training major is located in the Integrative Physiology and Health Science Department.
