CWC Information for College faculty and staff

As part of our campus wellness initiative, the counseling center and our medical staff have joined forces to help our campus community make positive, healthy, lifestyle choices.

This newly integrated team of wellness professionals will be providing many of the same services that have always been available to our students.

The Counseling and Wellness staff will continue to provide free counseling, educational programming, and outreach services for our students in our new Wilcox Medical Center North location. Counseling services for faculty and staff will continue to be provided through our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) offered through the Alma College's Human Resource office.

Providing Health Services to the campus community will be our two medical professionals, Maggie Ross, P.A. and Amber Herman R.N., who provide a variety of health related services in a clinic setting. These services will include primary health care such as immunizations, acute illness care, women's health care, diet and nutrition, treatment of minor injuries, and public health issues.

An important change in our health care delivery system is the College's new contractual partnership with Gratiot Medical Center. This arrangement will help us provide more comprehensive services, a seamless referral base for our students, faculty, and staff, and will ensure the sustainability of quality medical care on our campus.

For the most part services will remain unchanged. However, one noticeable difference is the establishment of a fee for service structure for office visits and procedures.

Our administration has worked with Gratiot Medical Center to assure that fees are reasonable and customary and adhere to the standards used by most colleges and universities. As is customary in most medical practices, co-pays will be collected and insurances will be billed at the time of service.

We are excited about this partnership and our new proactive approach to health and wellness at Alma College. The collaboration between counseling and medical services will enable us to increase our focus on health education, illness prevention, and healthy lifestyle choices.

The Counseling, Wellness and Health Services goal is to promote the health and well-being of our community. We believe that wellness should be a conscious choice and is associated with emotional stability and good physical health.

Taylor Boehler

Taylor Boehler
Graduation: 2013
Major: Integrative Physiology and Health Science

As a nursing assistant, Saginaw senior Taylor Boehler is finding ways every day to make a difference in people’s lives. Little did she realize that it also would change her own.

“I needed patient contact hours in order to get accepted to physician assistant school, so I started working at Masonic Pathways,” she says. “I ended up falling in love with working with geriatric populations. Honestly, if you would’ve told me in high school that I would end up in geriatrics, I would have thought you were nuts, but Masonic helped me find my niche.”
