The Climbing Wall & Club

This page is dedicated to the Climbing Wall at the Alan J. Stone Recreation Center. The Stone Recreation Center's climbing wall is one of the premiere attractions on campus with a 600 square foot wall featuring ten belay stations and lead climbing routes. Students and community members alike can enjoy the thrill of climbing the wall, and possibly start a new hobby.

Members and students need to pay a $7 fee to be trained by one of the Rec Center's Wall Monitors. The certification is good for one year, after one year there will be a recertifications test for $5. All current certifications allow you to climb for free whenever the wall is open. The Stone Recreation Center strives to provide new equipment, more challenging holds, and expert monitors. The climbing wall also provides climbers with community climbing shoes that students or members can climb in.

With the purchases of new ropes, harnesses, belay devices, carabiners, and shoes this year, the SRC is charging a $5 rental fee for equipment use for all community members. There are climbing cards which can be purchased for $15 and are good for 5 climbs. The wall staff are well trained and certified and will be offering a kids climbing class for 3 consecutive weekends in the fall. Dates are to be determined.
