Where can I park?

Parking is available on the hill in the sections labeled VISITOR. See our Campus Maps page for more information about parking areas and regulations.

How do I reserve a court?

Reservations can be made through any Stone Center staff member at the front desk and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

How long can I reserve a court for?

Reservations can be made up for any length of time up to 1 hour.

How far ahead can I reserve a court?

Reservations should be made at least 24 hours in advance of the time you’d like to use the court.

Where is the pool?

The pool is located in the Hogan Center, directly across from the stadium.

How do I sign up for fitness classes?

You are not obligated to officially sign up for a fitness class. You are able to attend any class at any time. A sign-in sheet will be available after the class is completed.

How do I sign up for a senior fitness membership?

In order to sign up for a senior fitness membership, patrons must contact Dr. Robyn Anderson at anderson@alma.edu or (989) 463-7159.

How does the senior fitness membership work?

Patrons ages 65+ are eligible to select a senior membership. The cost is $25 for 50 visits, which must be used between the hours of 8 a.m. and 10 a.m.

Does the Stone Center offer personal trainers?

Not at this time.

Can you keep my vehicle keys behind the desk?

No. For the protection of our staff, we ask that you bring a lock for one of the lockers to keep all personal items while you are using the facility.

Can I use my inline skates in the Stone Center?

Yes; however, inline skates may only be used on the MAC court. They are not to be worn in the lobby or on the track.

How long is the track?

Seven laps on the outside lane of the track equals 1 mile; 8 laps on the inside lane equals 1 mile.

Can I bring snacks into the Stone Center?

Yes, but they must be eaten in the lobby.

When is the climbing wall open?

7 p.m.–11 p.m.  Monday–Thursday
7 p.m.–9 p.m.   Friday
12 p.m.–2 p.m.  Saturday
2 p.m.–4 p.m.   Sunday

How do I get certified to use the climbing wall?

The certification process occurs on an appointment basis and costs $5, which is paid at the front desk before certification.

Do I need climbing equipment?

No. After you pay the certification fee, you are able to use the Stone Center equipment for free.

How do I change the channels on the televisions in the fitness room?

Remotes are located behind the fitness desk in the fitness room.

Can I bring my child in the fitness room with me?

Children under the age of 13 are prohibited from the fitness room. Children 13–15 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.

Can I bring my grandchild/friend/child with me once for free?

No; however, we do allow patrons who are interested in purchasing a membership to purchase a day pass and use it toward credit on their membership if they choose to get one. This can only be used once per family member listed on the membership. Guest passes also are available for $5.

I’m the parent of a student; do I get in free?

No, if you are not a student or a member you must buy a guest pass for $5.

Can I bring my young children in for free?

Yes. Children under five (5) years of age are admitted for free.

What happens in case of an emergency?

All Stone Center staff are CPR. and A.E.D. certified.

What happens if something is lost or stolen?

The Stone Center is not responsible for any lost or stolen items. A lost and found area is located behind the front desk. Campus Safety and Security is located in the Reid-Knox Building.

When are you open during school breaks?

Hours during breaks are abbreviated and will be posted on our main Web page (www.alma.edu/student_life/stone_center).

Do you have a pop machine?

Yes. The pop machine is located behind the men’s locker room.

 

Alma College’s early acceptance agreement with the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine recognizes the College’s strengths in science and health education. The agreement reserves two admissions slots per year for Alma College pre-med graduates.

“I’ve always been involved in athletics, and I always want to be,” she says. “It’s like a puzzle—if someone has an injury, you have to do tests to figure out what’s wrong.”
