If one of those sounds familiar, the The Alan J. Stone Center for Recreation at Alma College can help you reach your goals!

Whether you want to join a group fitness class, set your own pace on the indoor track, get your heart pumping on a cardio machine, pump iron, play a game of basketball (or volleyball or tennis or floor hockey), or play an intramural sport, we’ve got something for you.

Students, faculty and staff may use the center with their Alma College ID cards. Community members may purchase memberships to the Stone Center, which include pool privileges at the Hogan Center.

Thirty-four percent of Alma students participate in intercollegiate athletics. Alma College competes at the NCAA Division III level as a member of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association, the oldest existing athletic conference in the nation. Alma offers 22 varsity sports—11 for the women and 11 for the men—including four sports that debuted in 2011–12: women’s lacrosse and bowling and men’s lacrosse and wrestling.

Dr. Jeff Turk
Departments: Chemistry

Dr. Jeff Turk’s parents sealed his fate when they bought him a chemistry set at age nine. The last three weeks of his high school AP Chemistry class sparked his interest in organic chemistry.

The assistant professor of chemistry joined Alma faculty in 2006 after earning his undergraduate degree at Cleveland State University and his masters and doctoral degrees at the University of Cincinnati.
