On-Campus Options

Joe’s Place

Joe’s Place is the on-campus snack lounge for students who need to restock on grocery essentials while grabbing a cup of Starbucks coffee.

There’s also a grill station where you can order menu items such as classic sandwiches, custom burgers or nachos. Pssst: the Joe’s Bread comes highly recommended.

You also can use your Meal Advantage to order premium sandwiches, salads and other delicious sides.

Hamilton Commons

Students enjoy a casual meal at Joe's

Better known around campus as “Saga,” Hamilton Commons is Alma’s main eatery. Here, you can find grill, pizza and sauté stations, as well as an espresso bar and gourmet deli.

Hamilton Commons also offers fresh soups, salads and homemade desserts. Be sure to snag some cookies when they come out of the oven! You won’t regret it.

We also recommend submitting a recipe, so you can have a little piece of home at Alma.

Van Dusen Lunch Express

For a lunchtime change of pace, visit the Van Dusen Lunch Express. Create your very own pasta or stir-fry dishes at the sauté station. You also can build a burger or panini.

Since 2003, Alma College students have been awarded 43 prestigious nationally competitive scholarships and fellowships, including 22 Fulbright scholarships. Alma’s Nationally Competitive Scholarship Committee identifies and nurtures exceptional candidates for postgraduate awards.

Student Profile

Emily Hollenberg

Emily Hollenberg
Graduation: 2014
Major: English

Whether she’s reading a Pulitzer Prize-winning bestseller or penning a novel of her own, Indiana junior Emily Hollenberg’s native language is literature.

“I’ve loved English my whole life, and once I outgrew the firefighter stage, I knew I wanted to teach it,” she says. “I would like to be a high school teacher and also continue to write, whether as a novelist, poet or blogger. You can express yourself in a different way through reading and writing. They transport you to a different world for a while.”
