Dave Blandford strives to make Alma’s students feel comfortable when they walk in the doors and make the experience for the other members on the Student Life staff a fun one.
“I love my job,” says Blandford. “It’s different every day and I enjoy watching the students evolve over their four years here.”
Blandford has been with the Alma College Student Life staff since 2000, working first as the hall director for Bruske Hall. Today, Blandford is the director of campus life, overseeing all student housing and advising Greek life.
As a resident assistant at the University of Idaho, Blandford became hooked on working with college students. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in computer science, he visited Alma’s campus with the Oshkosh Placement Exchange and fell in love with Alma.
“I liked the small campus feel that Alma has,” says Blandford. “I liked that I would have more of an opportunity to work with the students and was impressed by how involved they were on campus.”
Blandford has a side business as a nature photographer, but a new role has usurped most of his free time: he and wife Virginia welcomed daughter Vivian Paige to their family June 15, 2010.
