Father Kevin Maksym, Volunteer Chaplain
Father Kevin Maksym is a priest of the Catholic Diocese of Saginaw and entered full-time parish ministry after his ordination in June 2001. As part of his preparation for the priesthood, Kevin studied philosophy at Oakland University, Sacred Heart Major Seminary and the University of Detroit Mercy. He pursued graduate studies at the Catholic Theological Union in Chicago where he graduated with a Masters of Divinity degree. As part of his seminary curriculum, Fr. Kevin studied Jewish and Christian scripture in Israel and Palestine. He is presently the pastor of St. Mary parish and school in Alma and Mt. St. Joseph church in St. Louis.
Father Kevin has an avid interest in the intersection of contemplation and non-violence. He practices meditation in the Christian tradition as well as studying the great peacemakers of our world who most often are women and men of deep prayer. A central component of his preaching and teaching is that each of us has the potential of following in the footsteps of the great ones in the Judeo-Christian tradition.
