This grant is written by Mr. John Horwath (class of '10) and Sean Mo for the Alma Public Schools. The project is in the area of chemical education for the improvement of Alma Middle School science curriculum. The funding allows a new renewable energy curriculum, solar photovoltaic pavillion and weather station at Alma Middle School (Donald Pavlik Middle School).

 

Thirty-four percent of Alma students participate in intercollegiate athletics. Alma College competes at the NCAA Division III level as a member of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association, the oldest existing athletic conference in the nation. Alma offers 22 varsity sports—11 for the women and 11 for the men—including four sports that debuted in 2011–12: women’s lacrosse and bowling and men’s lacrosse and wrestling.

Dr. Sean Mo
Departments: Chemistry

Sean Mo has an undergraduate professor to thank for both his love for chemistry and his desire to teach.

“I had an incredible physical chemistry professor at Whitman College, and he made us appreciate the field of chemistry,” the assistant professor of chemistry says. “Furthermore, it was his personable interaction with his students in class that really drew me into the field. I learned a lot from him, and the rest is history.”
