Tiputini Grant Awardee
More Details:
I was awarded a grant, through Boston University, and participated in a tropical rain forest travel excursion to the Tiputini Biodiversity Station in eastern Ecuador (northwest Amazon). Along with 8 other educators, we were involved with direct training of teacher educators (through science methods courses and practicum supervision) and joined Boston University under the direct supervision of Dr. Doug Zook. The Science Education Department and the sedGreen Committee of the School of Education at Boston University reviewed applicants and selected 8 individuals who received an award of full coverage of accommodations, food, guides, travel, and program administration for ten days: January 2 ā 12, 2009. The award was worth approximately $800 with a purpose of learning as much as possible about biodiversity and conservation and bring that information and skill back to enhance our own curriculums.
