More Details:

Submitted a grant application for an award of $50,000 from the Margaret A. Cargill Foundation. The grant monies are for the development of specialty programs within the education department. My colleagues, Sally Bowen, Carol Hyble, heard back from the foundation in October of 2009. The grant monies will come in increments of $10,000 per year and are to be used specifically for education upgrades. The depatment is currently discussing specifics for use.

Alma College’s first-year students can choose to “go green” through the Get Out Bike Program, designed to reduce their carbon impact. By signing a pledge not to bring a car to campus, participants in the program receive a bike to keep at a discounted rate. Downtown businesses are easily accessible to student cyclists. Campus also is bordered by the 41-mile Fred Meijer Heartland Trail.
