Alma College Marching Band/Hohner Institute of Percussion.  "Alma College/Hohner Institute of Percussion Marching Band Invitational."  High School Marching Bands from across the State..  Alma College Campus.

Held annually since 2002 this event features competitive performances by Michigan high school marching bands. Participating bands receive critiques from a panel of judges. The Alma College Marching Band runs this festival as a service learning project and performs in exhibition previous to the awards ceremony.

 

Distinguishing landmarks on Alma’s campus include the Posey Bench near the Hood Building, the Bishop Makarios Memorial Sculpture, the “Momentum” sculpture near the entrance to the Hogan Center, the Spirit Rock behind the Library, the Bahlke Field Gate, the Peace Poles in McIntyre Mall, and the Redman Gate along Superior Street that welcomes campus visitors.

Heather Hertema

Major: Biochemistry

Dry ice balloons, liquid nitrogen ice cream and methane bubbles. These are a few of the things Heather Hertema ’02 uses to make a difference in the lives of children.

Inspired by her experiences at Alma College, Hertema, who recently earned a doctorate in pharmacy from the University of California, San Francisco, fused her passions for service and science to create a summer science camp.
