Spring Term at Alma is a one-month immersion on a single academic topic that offers learning experiences not typically available during the more traditional 15-week fall and winter terms. For example, during Spring Term 2012, students observed lizards in Bermuda, studied modern economic development in India, performed dance in Taiwan, examined renewable energy in Europe and investigated medicinal plants in the Amazon rainforest....

Kelly O’Connor Dachtler

Learning another language is valuable in itself, but experiences abroad can bring words and meanings to life. Alma College alumna Kelly O’Connor Dachtler was drawn to studying German because of her experiences studying aboard.

“I was able to study for a semester in Germany as part of my double major,” she says. “In addition to developing my language skills in a tremendous way, the cultural immersion opened my eyes to the world.”
