I am glad to be a member of the Education Department here at Alma College, where we value our "close-knit" community and our ability to interact with students on a daily basis, guiding them toward their future goals. Bob Devaney, a 1939 graduate of Alma College, went on to become known as one of the greatest coaches in collegiate football history. In his 11 years as head coach at Nebraska, Devaney produced 11 winning seasons with two national championships. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1981. At Alma he played end and was the Scots’ Most Valuable Player in 1938.

Art isn’t the only thing that took shape at Alma College for Heidi Henke ’00. The experience also helped her become a well-rounded individual and artist.

“The Alma environment not only nurtures education, but personal growth as well,” she says. “I was free to be myself and do the things I love. I had opportunities to be involved in many different activities and programs.”
