Formerly a soloist with the ballet of the Teatr Wielki in Lodz, Poland and the Cork City Ballet in Cork, Ireland. Also a previous member of the Slovene National Ballet (Maribor, Slovenia), Opera na Zamku (Szczecin, Poland), San Diego Ballet, California Ballet and Utah Ballet. Principal guest artist for Ballet West UK (Sugarplum Fairy/Nutcracker) and Salt Lake City Ballet (Kitri/Don Quixote). Experience includes the complete classical repertoire and notable roles include the title role in Giselle, Clara/Sugarplum Fairy/Arabian/Snow Queen (Nutcracker), Aurora/Fairy of Delicacy/White Cat (Sleeping Beauty), Le Corsaire pas de deux/ Odalisque pas de trois, Lead Princess (Firebird), Odette/Odile, Polish Princess, Neopolitan Dance (Swan Lake), Prelude (Les Sylphides). Has created principal roles for Giorgio Madia and Eddy Toussiant (among others). Regular guest teacher for San Diego Civic Youth Ballet.

Alma encourages its students to look beyond Michigan’s boundaries. The Posey Global Leadership Scholarship provides opportunities for Alma College students to travel anywhere in the world and complete a self-designed project. Alma students have completed projects on topics ranging from teaching to public policy, in places from the Philippines to South Africa.

Nancy Carter Dopke started college as an undergraduate at Millikin University and hasn’t left college since.

“Teaching at a college is a great mix of activities for me,” the assistant professor of chemistry says.

“I get to spend time working with students, talking and thinking about chemistry, working in lab and spending time with people.”
