Dr. S. Brian Stratton, born and reared in the Appalachian Mountains of Kentucky, came to Alma College from Pikeville College (B.A.) and Princeton Theological Seminary (M.Div. and Ph.D.).

His previous teaching positions include Washington University in Saint Louis (Missouri), Lafayette College (Pennsylvania), Eastern Kentucky University, and Pikeville College (Kentucky).

At Alma College, Dr. Stratton holds a joint appointment in the Religious Studies and Philosophy Departments.
