With a goal of helping students create and maintain a healthy lifestyle, wellness services at Alma College are a collaborative effort between the Counseling and Wellness Center and the Wilcox Health Center.
The Counseling and Wellness Center supports and encourages students as they work to resolve problem areas and cope with difficult situations. Licensed counselors are available to provide free, confidential counseling related to personal growth, human development and interpersonal relationships.
Therapy pets are available at the
Counseling Center.
In addition to offering individual, group and relationship counseling, the Counseling and Wellness Center’s staff also provides programs on wellness issues, alcohol, sexual assault, harassment and other mental health issues.
The Wilcox Health Center’s services include primary healthcare such as immunizations, acute illness care, women’s healthcare, diet and nutrition, treatment of minor injuries, public health issues and mental health concerns.
Prevention is a priority at Alma. We recognize that many problems can be minimized or even avoided if information or help is provided before a crisis is reached. Counselors and medical staff are available for presentations or group sessions for residence halls, classes, clubs or community groups.
Because of our affiliation with MidMichigan Medical Center, a 142-bed regional hospital here in Alma, our staff members are able to provide access to other local providers and specialists should referrals be necessary.
