What Does SAI Do?
SAI helps musicians out by enhancing music education in schools and communities all over the world. They work to inspire and encourage the musicial talents and high standards of members and non-members.
SAI Philanthropies supports grants and scholarships that can be used for various music projects.
SAI helps with music therapy. Music helps with healing and rehabilitation for a variety of illnesses. The music theapy program began after World War II bring music to veterans and has been expanded to hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and schools for handicapped children.
Some previous projects have included:
- caroling or singing at nursing homes
- assembling large-print songbooks or flashcards for the visually impaired
- transposing music to singable keys for the elderly
- providing on-going musical programs to schools and care facilities
- donating or making rhythm instruments for children's hospitals
- presenting workshops on singing/signing for the hearing impaired
- sponsoring presentations by music therapists
SAI also provides assistance directly. They provide material assistance and encouragement to schools, music organizations and musicians in developing countries. SAI also sponsors an adopt an instrument fund where people will donate their used instuments, music and textbooks to those who are in need of them.

The SAI Strings make an effort to keep music from being eliminated from school programs with a special interest in the string programs.
