The Alma College Style Manual assists Communication and Marketing staff members as they write for Alma College in multiple mediums — standard news releases, Accents alumni magazine, print publications, the website, social media and all other forms of online communication. Updates were made to conform more closely to Associated Press Style.
In recent times, social media — particularly Facebook and Twitter — have emerged as important communication tools for the college. While these style guidelines apply to all forms for writing, it is recognized that written communication in social media typically is more informal and personal. Social media writers are advised to follow these general guidelines regarding style: be concise, clear, honest, to the point and reader-centered.
