Neeake — Fred A. Shaw
Shawandasse Nishnabe “Truth Teller”
A graduate of Ohio University and holder of a Master of Divinity degree, Neeake, whose English name is Fred A. Shaw, is a native of Zanesville, Ohio. In 1986 he was tested and granted the title of “Olammapise” (“truth teller”) by the Shawandasse Nishnabe Indian Tribe. His presentation, “Stories Old Upon the Land,” depicts the 1789 era of the Tribe in clothing, paint and accouterments.

“Cousin Jeff” Johnson
MLK Week Keynote Speaker
Political and social activist Jeffrey Johnson is best known as the host and producer of “The Cousin Jeff Chronicles,” a series of mini-documentaries that air on BET. An AME minister and a powerful and fiery orator, Johnson appears weekly on Rap City, engaging and enlightening a nation of young viewers on important political and social issues. He visits campus to deliver the keynote address for the College’s week-long Martin Luther King celebration of civil rights and social justice. This event is sponsored by the College’s MLK Week Committee.
