"A day ON, not a day OFF"

 

Social justice is a recurring theme running through the Alma College week-long commemoration of the legacy of Martin Luther King. Jr. The week begins Jan. 12, 2007, with Pay It Forward: The Giving Game at 8 p.m. in Dunning Memorial Chapel and features street activism demonstrations and Robert Bullard speaking about the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. All events are free and open to the public. Alma College’s nationally recognized Model United Nations program has won top honors for 16 consecutive years (1997–2012) — the longest active winning streak of any college or university in the nation. Majoring in political science at Alma College was just as much of a no-brainer as voting is for Joshua Pugh ’11.

“When I first visited campus, I met with Dr. Hulme and knew that I wanted to pursue political science,” he says. “After taking my first research methods class with Dr. Cartrite, it was clear that I had made the right choice.”
