Dreamfest '09

This year marks the fourth annual student competition to reflect on the legacy of Dr. King by focusing on "Where Do We Go From Here?," the theme for the 2009 celebration of the civil rights activist’s life and times. Renamed Dreamfest '09 from Reflections Contest, students are encouraged to reflect on Dr. King’s dream and the effect of his vision on our future.

Criteria:

Reflections can be expressed through the medium of the student’s choosing: writing, music, media technology, posters, performance, art, for example. The only limitation is that the reflections need to be in a format capable of submission.

  • Reflections can be individual or co-authored.
  • Reflections can be expansions or re-thinkings of previous or future assignments.
  • Students will perform their submissions for 5-7 minutes before an audience and judging panel on January 20, 2009, at 7 p.m. in the Clack Art Center Theater.
  • Students will submit their reflections no later than noon, Friday, January 16, 2009.

Alma College students are annual high achievers in the national Model United Nations competition. Alma has received Outstanding Delegation awards in each of the last 13 years (1997 through 2009) at the world's largest and most prestigious collegiate Model UN Conference in New York City.
