Student Blogs: Adventures in Summer Research
In Alma College’s PRISM program, students have the opportunity to participate in a summer research program, working one-on-one with a faculty member.
This year’s projects include biological and chemical investigation of medicinal plants, environmental impact of industrial agriculture, and asteroid impact studies. Some students working on these studies have chosen to keep blogs about their summer research experiences.
Professor Brian Doyle’s students are working to identify the biologically active chemical constituents in plants that have a history of use in traditional medicine. Three students are conducting research in Gratiot County, Mich., while two students are working in the Ecuadorian rainforest. Their blogs are available at: http://almacollegeprismresearch.blog.com.
