Alternative Breaks: 10 Years, 28,000 Service Hours
For the past 10 years, many Alma College students have voluntarily devoted their academic breaks to serving others while learning about social issues and experiencing local culture.

Alma College trustees have adopted a master plan that provides a direction and set of priorities for the development of the physical campus. Key components include an emphasis on advanced and interactive learning, prioritized building renovations, housing initiatives that accommodate enrollment growth, a reconfiguration of parking lots and green spaces, and campus growth plans linked to the Alma downtown business environment.

Departments: Mathematics

Math professor Robert Molina has a puzzle obsession. From Sudoku to Rubik’s cubes, he has a vast collection of puzzles in his home—and always brings a table-full to the annual math taco dinner.

Mind puzzles are a branch of his expert field, combinatorics, which is the study of discrete (and usually finite) objects. In other words, it deals with arrangement of items like books on a self, or numbers in a defined set.
