Summer Camps, Conferences Bring Thousands to Campus
Summer camp and conference season has arrived. Between 4,500 and 5,000 students will visit the Alma College campus during the summer months.

Alma’s innovative PRISM project—Positive Routes Into Science and Mathematics—gets more students excited about science. It engages students in research opportunities not only in their first, second, third and fourth years of college but also in the summer prior to taking their first college course. PRISM is funded by a $500,000 grant from the National Science Foundation.

Gwyneth Hill Beagley gets her best research ideas from her students.

“I have gotten my best ideas from undergraduates because they are not afraid of making mistakes,” the professor of psychology says. “Because of the ability to interact with students in the lab, you learn more working here than you would at a larger research university.”
