The Alma College Choir will preview songs it will perform on its upcoming winter break tour to schools and churches in metro Detroit.

The choir will sing songs from Irish folk history, as well as the song “Jai Ho,” which became famous from the film “Slum Dog Millionaire.” Will Nichols, director of the choir, says some of the most challenging songs in the choir's repertoire are among his favorites.

“I am eager to perform every one of these songs,” says Nichols. “One of the works on the program, 'The Song of the Birds,’ is just so much fun. It is a very challenging work, but the Alma Choir has risen to the challenge."

The Choir’s spring break tour takes place the week of Feb. 27. On March 4, the Choir will join the Alma College Percussion Ensemble, Pipe Band and Kiltie Dancers for “Resonance: A Celebration of the Performing Arts” at the Detroit Opera House.
