Gala Benefit Musicale Features Faculty Performers

Alma College faculty and guest artists will perform a mix of classical and popular works at the annual Gala Benefit Musicale at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2 in the Remick Heritage Center.

The concert benefits music scholarships for Alma College students. Tickets are $20 for adults and free for Alma College students and youth 18 and under. Seating is reserved. Call (989) 463-7304 for ticket information.

“The musicians will perform a wonderful mix of music,” says music faculty member Murray Gross. “This is a chance to hear our faculty performers, such as French horn player Robin von Wald, who will perform two movements from Brahms’ horn trio, and bagpiper Andrew Duncan.

“There will be some surprises, as well. The audience will be treated to a range of styles performed by top-notch players,” he says.

Other performers will include violinist Takeshi Abo, flutist Tess Miller, pianist Anthony Patterson, double bassist Melissa Straus and trombonist J. Michael Raley.
