Andison, Barlow Awards Recognize Faculty Excellence
Randy Jacques and Stephany Slaughter are the 2011 recipients of the Andison Awards for Excellence in Teaching at Alma College, while Nicola Findley and Catherine Fobes have received this year’s Barlow Awards for Faculty Excellence.

Cameron Receives Midwest Business Teaching Award
Alma College Business Administration Professor Elizabeth Cameron has received the 2011 Midwest Academy of Legal Studies in Business (MALSB) Master Teacher Award during the MBAA International Annual Conference.

 

Alma College students have the ability to design their own area of academic concentration—with the assistance of a faculty advisor—to meet specific educational or career goals. In recent years, students have graduated with Programs of Emphasis majors in such fields as arts management, archaeology and anthropology, environmental policy and community advocacy, Foreign Service and international law, and music technology and digital media.

Kari St. Bernard Tapley wanted a way to combine her interest in communication with her interest in health. The minor in public health showed her the need for public health programs.

Now a perinatal Hepatitis B surveillance specialist for the Michigan Department of Community Health, she works on reporting and preventing disease in pregnant women.
