Dedication Ceremony Planned for Eddy Music Center
A dedication ceremony for the renovated Eddy Music Center at Alma College takes place at 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 6. The Alma College Pipe Band will perform during the ceremony. All are welcome.
The remodeled facility includes larger teaching studios, enhanced instrument storage space and a 4,200-square-foot addition that addresses the critical needs of Alma College’s growing music programs. The $1.8 million project was funded by a combination of gifts and the sale of bonds.
The new front lobby entrance features rounded glass walls.
The new front lobby is large enough to host receptions and greet campus visitors — gathering space that did not exist in the original building. The addition also includes practice rooms, a recording studio, faculty offices and additional instrument storage space.
Renovations to the existing 10,000-square-foot building included moving interior walls to transform small practice rooms into larger studios, adding offices and creating large dedicated instrument storage space.
The addition to the existing Eddy Music Center.
The Eddy Music Center, opened in 1975, was the first campus building devoted exclusively to the teaching of music. Student participation in Alma’s major vocal and instrumental ensembles has more than doubled since then.
