Alma Alum: Japanese People 'Surviving With Dignity'
Martin Stack, a 1989 graduate of Alma College and resident of Japan, responds to questions about the devastating earthquake and tsunami.

 

Wright Hall, Alma’s “green” residence hall, is a modern, 60-bed apartment-style hall that features a number of environmentally friendly features, including geothermal heating and cooling, recycled-content ceiling tiles and carpeting, energy-efficient windows, rooftop solar heating panels, energy-efficient showers and washing machines, and a computerized energy monitoring system.

With a passion for people and problem-solving, Zahra Hussain’s symptoms can only mean one thing: a lifelong dream of being a doctor. She says she has known she wanted to pursue this career path since she was 4 years old.

“My dad is a doctor, and so is everyone else in my family: aunts, uncles, cousins,” she says. “Growing up in that atmosphere, it was easy to figure out that it was what I wanted to do as well.”
