Ten Alternative Breaks will engage Alma College students in week-long service opportunities in January and February, ranging from building and refurbishing homes, interacting with terminally ill children, and serving meals to the homeless.

Women's, Men's Lacrosse Added as Varsity Sports
Alma College will sponsor varsity men’s and women’s lacrosse beginning in the 2011-12 academic year, increasing the College’s number of intercollegiate sponsored sports from 18 to 20.

 

Alma College students have the ability to design their own area of academic concentration—with the assistance of a faculty advisor—to meet specific educational or career goals. In recent years, students have graduated with Programs of Emphasis majors in such fields as arts management, archaeology and anthropology, environmental policy and community advocacy, Foreign Service and international law, and music technology and digital media.

“I want to become a doctor, though I haven’t defined what field of medicine I want to pursue yet,” she says. “I like the challenge of solving people’s medical problems and figuring out how to help them feel better.”
