The second half of the concert features “The Chicken” by Alfred “Pee Wee” Ellis, “Blue Miles” and “Elektric City” by Chick Corea, and “The Jazz Police” by Gordon Goodwin.

Twenty-two students comprise the ensemble, including five saxophonists, four trombonists, two guitarists and a pianist. Carlos Melendez, visiting instructor of music at Alma College, leads and directs the group.

“The Alma College Jazz Ensemble will perform a variety of jazz arrangements of classics from past and present composers,” says Melendez. “All are welcome.”
