Students Inducted into ODK National Honorary
ALMA, Mich. -- Twelve Alma College students -- 11 juniors and one senior -- have been selected for membership in Omicron Delta Kappa, national leadership honor society. New members were announced April 2 at Alma's 2009 Honors Convocation.
To qualify for membership in Omicron Delta Kappa, students must be juniors or seniors in the top third of their class and participate in a wide variety of campus activities. Founded nationally at Washington and Lee University (VA) in 1914, Alma's chapter was established in 1967.
Alma College, a four-year, liberal arts and sciences college in the middle of Michigan's lower peninsula, is known for its strong academic programs emphasizing a global perspective. Students actively engage in learning through original research projects, often addressing community issues. Founded in 1886 by the Presbyterian Church, Alma has positioned itself as one of the top liberal arts colleges in the country.

Junior Carrie Chaffee of Clarkston, a 2006 graduate of Clarkston High School, is the daughter of Martin and Jill Chaffee of Clarkston.
Senior Stephanie VanSteenburg of Davison, a 2005 graduate of Davison High School, is the daughter of Kurt and Theresa VanSteenburg of Davison.
Junior Denise Elowsky of East Tawas, a 2006 graduate of Michigan Lutheran Seminary, is the daughter of Dr. Earl and Mrs. Carol Elowsky of East Tawas.
Junior Nathan Garvin of Gladwin, a 2006 graduate of Beaverton High School, is the son of Michael and Sherry Garvin of Gladwin.
Junior Laura Kohn of Greenville, a 2006 graduate of Greenville High School, is the daughter of Thomas and Christine Kohn of Greenville.
Junior Megan LaPine of Harbor Beach, a 2006 graduate of Harbor Beach High School, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James LaPine of Harbor Beach.
Junior Erika Schroeder of Hickory Corners, a 2006 graduate of Hastings High School, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Craig Schroeder of Hickory Corners.
Junior Alexander Montoye of Mt. Pleasant, a 2006 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School, is the son of Dr. Allen and Mrs. Mary Montoye of Mt. Pleasant.
Junior Jaimie Bolda of Port Austin, a 2006 graduate of Ubly High School, is the daughter of Bill and Patricia Bolda of Port Austin.
Junior Maureen O'Connell of Jackson, Wisc., a 2006 graduate of Nicolet High School, is the daughter of Joseph and Patricia O'Connell of Jackson, Wisc.
Junior Martin Kuustik of Saku Harju, Estonia, a 2006 graduate of Alpena (Mich.) High School, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Margus Kuustik of Saku Harju, Estonia.
